He did all that and I met him so I could learn a few things about my system from him. He was prompt, professional and courteous. The issue was my mother board that needed to be brought in. In the past when I would set up an appointment with “lesser” companies I would often times be left sitting for hours waiting for a technician to arrive or cancel. Over the last four years I have been using Sentry they have never left me sitting. I don’t know if their technicians have super powers and are able to anticipate traffic jams or if they arrive an hour early and sit around the corner until it is time to meet but they are always on time. They are very good about cleaning up after themselves. They are courteous, competitively priced and…. should I have ever have a problem with any of the units or work they’ve done for me I have no doubt they will fix it. He had an extra key that he gave me, we couldn’t fined ours. Within about one minute he showed me that the gate motor and mechanism was working but that the key pad wiring had gone. We needed to change out a deadbolt lock for a keypad on a gate, and though it was a small job, they did a very good job, even coming back to address a minor concern. It was fairly pricey for something relatively small, but I appreciated the honesty from them (I interacted with Greg) ahead of time that it was going to be that way, even saying they’d understand if we said no. We dealt with multiple other fence companies prior to Sentry. They all treated us as if our job was beneath them to accomplish (including one that wouldn’t even return a follow-up call). My gate operator was mounted directly on the ground and 100% submerged during the storm. Needless to say, it was ruined and did not work after the water receded. I called several vendors to get quotes for replacing the unit. Sentry Garage Door was the least expensive, and they use installers they trust – some they’ve worked with for 5-10 years. Installation was scheduled quickly. Two gentlemen came to my house with the new unit. Installation took a few hours, but included fabrication of a new stand to ensure my new motor would not flood in any future storm. They worked quickly and professionally. All of the welded pieces were sanded to remove any sharp edges and painted neatly (no over-spray). I just requested documentation for my flood insurance and they obliged quickly and politely. “My 7 year old Viking-1 gate opener stopped operating last week. I have had problems with it before. It is a robust looking ground unit but it seems I have been replacing parts over time – new cam, transmitter, board…the mechanical section doing all the work has been very reliable though. I did not buy it from Sentry, not even sure they were around then, but they have been my favorite service help for the last year. Greg and his team are very responsive. This time they assigned Andrew as my technician. Andrew did great. Came out the next day while on another assignment – diagnosed the problem, and ordered the part. Stayed in contact while waiting on the part. Part arrived after a few days, no sweat….I just opened the thing with my hand in the morning and closed it at night while waiting. The unit IS seven years old in a time where electronics have gone crazy with new whiz bang features so not a shelf item for sure. Andrew came with a helper (sorry did not get his name) and they had the thing bundled back up in no time. But after calling around and some research on the internet, we found that they were about the same price as every other gate company. Since their manager was very nice and patient, we just used them. It turned out to be a good experience! The technicians came on time and did a great job. Later, we had a few problems due to rains. They were always very helpful. One time quite a few gates got problems on our street due to heavy rain and our neighbor told me that he found the technician from Sentry was the most experienced and had pretty good price. Lately the circuit for our gate went wrong. Sentry changed it without any cost because it’s still under warranty.
